School of Engineering organizations and offices have scheduled five super, must-do events for students to do in their first four weeks at the University of Kansas. Most are open to all School of Engineering students, however one is specifically for incoming freshmen. New this year is Rockin’ on Learned Lawn, which will feature a dunk tank and large inflatable games. The events are:
1. Engineering Student Council’s Welcome Cookout
Noon to 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 19, Engineering Courtyard. Eat, meet the dean, and find out about clubs and organizations. Free.
2. Frosh Frenzy
4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m., Engineering Courtyard, Saturday, Aug. 23. All incoming freshmen to the School of Engineering are welcome to this fast-paced “Amazing Race” inspired event. Sponsored by ESC and, best of all, free.
3. Rockin’ on Learned Lawn
6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 23. Live band, free food, prizes, “Dunk the Dean,” moonwalk and other big inflatables. Free for all School of Engineering students. Sponsored by ESC.
4. SWE Evening With Industry
6 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 16, Kansas Union Ballroom. Meet, greet and eat with prospective employers before everyone else. Open to all; women and freshmen students are strongly encouraged to attend. $12.50. Seating is limited. Dress is business attire. Coordinated by the Society of Women Engineers and the Office of Diversity Programs.
5. Engineering and Computer Science Career Fair
Noon to 5 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 17, Kansas Union 5th Floor. All School of Engineering students are encouraged to attend. Dress is business attire. Coordinated by Engineering Career Center.
