Representatives from Engineering Career Center are coordinating several workshops and seminars for School of Engineering students in advance of the career fair.

From 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 28, students can take part in a job search “Cram Session” that will help them build their knowledge of the job search process.

ECC staff will hand out free popcorn and prizes for students who take part in the Wheel of Chance game outside the Self Computing Commons in Eaton Hall.

Other helpful sessions include walk-in resume reviews, interview preparation workshops and career fair success tips.

The center also will play host to the 2009 Trivia Game Night for School of Engineering students and employers from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 11, in the Locke Atrium of Eaton Hall. The event lets students and employers get to know each other in a more relaxed, fun setting.

ECC staff recommends that all students dress business professional and come to the career fair prepared with multiple copies of their resumes, including different versions for different industries.

Students should practice an “elevator speech” that quickly details their strengths and abilities in the time it takes to ride an elevator. ECC staff also strongly urges students to research firms and agencies prior to the career fair so they can hold and informed conversation with employers.
