Dinner Event Gives Students Access to Employers

Friday, September 1, 2006

The annual SWE Evening with Industry will be at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 19, in the Kansas Union Ballroom. Evening with Industry, held the evening before the fall Engineering and Computer Science Career Fair, gives students an exclusive opportunity to interact with prospective employers in a pleasant, structured environment. Tickets are $12 and must be purchased in advance.

All engineering and computer science students — especially female students — at all academic levels are strongly encouraged to attend this exclusive event. Seating is limited. Dress is business attire and suits are strongly recommended.

Students who take part in Evening with Industry have unequaled access to the people who do the hiring. The evening includes time to mingle and a formal dinner. Event organizers strive to connect students with employers representing the student's career interests. In addition, all employers who take part in the event receive a CD with resumes of all students in attendance.

Registration must be received by Friday, Sept. 8. To register, download a copy of the registration form available on the

KU SWE Evening With Industry Web site

and bring the completed form and payment to Lauren Haake, coordinator of Women's Engineering Programs, or Florence Boldridge, director of Diversity Programs, in the Deans Office Suite in Eaton Hall.

Resumes must be submitted as a PDF or as a Microsoft Word document. Resumes should be titled with the student's name, e.g. YourName.doc. In order to have a resume on the CD it must be submitted by Sept. 7.
