School of Engineering New Graduate Student Orientation
Our New Graduate Student Orientation is split into two parts: one online session available a month before the start of the semester and one in-person session the week prior to class for each fall and spring semester. The online orientation can be found under Blackboard, entitled "Engineering Graduate Orientation," once it is made available. The in-person orientation covers one full day with an optional social event in the evening to meet current graduate students, faculty and staff. Students should check out the New Graduate Student Orientation page for detailed information and registration. All new graduate students (including KU undergrads) are encouraged to attend. Edwards Campus students (Engineering & Project Management and Information Technology) and part-time students/working professionals in Civil, Environmental, and Architectural Engineering are not required to attend. Edwards Campus provides a separate orientation on their campus in the evening, more information is available here.
Please contact the Assistant Director of Graduate Academic Services if you have any questions.
International Students
International students have an additional orientation managed through the International Student Services (ISS) office. To register for the orientation events devoted to international students visit the "You at KU" website. The ISS Website also lists important pre-arrival information for international students.
New Graduate Teaching Assistants
All new GTA's are required to attend the New GTA Conference. Failure to attend the conference may result in termination of your GTA contract. Please plan ahead to ensure you are able to commit to this event.
