Enrollment is under way for the University of Kansas School of Engineering’s SWE Weekend of Engineering for high school girls. The experiential camp will be Nov. 2-Nov. 4 in Lawrence.
Weekend of Engineering is designed to give prospective female engineers a taste of college life -- KU style. The campers will be able to learn about the different engineering programs at KU, meet with current KU engineering and computer science students and work on design projects and team-building exercises. In addition, students will attend the KU vs. Nebraska University Homecoming football game on Nov. 3.
The event, which is co-sponsored by the KU student chapter of the Society of Women Engineers, is developed for high school girls at the junior and senior level and includes information sessions about KU and a Q & A session with current students. Cost to attend is $95 and includes lodging, meals, game ticket, and lab materials.
A second SWE Weekend of Engineering is scheduled for Feb. 1- Feb. 3, and includes a KU Women’s Basketball game as part of the activities.
