18  Smart Grid, a lecture by alumnus Andres Carvallo of Austin Energy, 4 p.m. to 5 p.m., Apollo Room, Nichols Hall, West Campus. Reception to follow.

9  KU School of Engineering Distinguished Lecture featuring Linda Cook, KU alumna and former Executive Director of Royal Dutch Shell Gas and Power, 4 p.m., Spahr Engineering Classroom. Eaton Hall.

10  Engineering Homecoming Tailgate, 2 hours before kickoff, Memorial Stadium, by invitation only

10  Football, KU vs. Iowa State/Homecoming, TBA, Memorial Stadium

15  Fall Break Begins, no classes
