Fall Career Fair to Draw More than 70 Employers

Monday, September 14, 2009

Professional Dress for a career fair More than 70 firms are signed up to recruit potential employees at the fall Engineering and Computer Science Career Fair from noon to 5 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 16, at the Kansas Memorial Union at the University of Kansas.

The career fair, coordinated by Engineering Career Services, is open to all students at all levels of their academic career, however employers are focused to recruit students majoring in engineering, computer science, math and other hard sciences.  Alumni also are welcome. Employers are seeking to fill expected full-time positions as well as to recruit interns.

ECC staff members recommend students dress in business professional attire – suit or nice slacks, shirt or blouse, tie and dress shoes – and bring numerous copies of their resume. Attendees also are advised to review the list of employers attending the event and prepare questions for specific employers of interest.

The Career Center, 1001 Eaton Hall, and University Career Center have several events and workshops planned prior to the career fair that can help students prepare.
