Career Fair Set For Feb. 11

Jobseekers can meet employers at the spring Engineering and Computer Science Career Fair. Jobseekers will soon have a chance to be noticed.  The spring Engineering and Computer Science Career Fair will be from noon to 4 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 11, on the fifth floor of the Kansas Memorial Union. 

More than 40 employers from industry and government are expected to take part in the spring career fair as they work to find interns and prospective employees.  All students at every stage of their academic career are encouraged to attend, however employers are focused on students from engineering, computer science and other hard science disciplines. 

Students and other jobseekers are encouraged to dress professionally, bring multiple copies of their resume and learn something about the employers they are interested in prior to the career fair. A list of employer s registered to attend the career fair can be found online. 

Engineering Career Center, which coordinates the career fair, has several activities and workshops lined up to help students prepare.

EVENTS & ACTIVITIES

Career Crunch Time Cram Session, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 27, outside the Self Computing Commons, Eaton Hall.

Power Pack Your Resume Workshop , 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 28, Deans Conference Room, 1 Eaton Hall.

Walk-in Resume Review, 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 28, 1001 Eaton Hall. No appointment needed.

Students can also sign up for practice interviews with actual employer representatives. Sign up for a mock interview appointment in the Engineering Career Center, 1001 Eaton, during the week of Jan. 25-29.

The Career Center also has videos to help students improve their etiquette and mingling skills. The videos can be viewed between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., in 1001 Eaton Hall.
