Provost to Present Keynote at ACM Conference

On Thursday, Nov. 1, Jeffrey Vitter, provost and executive vice chancellor and Roy A. Roberts Distinguished Professor at the University of Kansas, is a keynote speaker at 21st ACM International Conference on Information and Knowledge Management (CIKM 2012) in Maui, Hawaii.
 

Vitter’s presentation, Compressed Data Structures with Relevance, will describe recent breakthroughs in the field of compressed data structures, in which the data structure is stored in a compressed representation that still allows fast answers to queries.
 

The Conference on Information and Knowledge Management is one of the world’s most recognized conferences in the field. The CIKM conference has provided a unique international forum for the presentation, discussion and dissemination of research findings in data management, information retrieval and knowledge management. The purpose of the conference is to identify challenging problems facing the development of future knowledge and information systems and to shape future research directions though the publication of high quality, applied and theoretical research findings.
