What’s great about your major?

With a civil engineering degree, I will be able to affect the infrastructure of our country and of local communities. The projects I will work on will make a societal impact that will outlive me, and provide use to hundreds of people.

Why was the KU School of Engineering the right choice for you?

The School of Engineering has a smaller feel within a large university. There is plenty of resources to succeed and interaction with professors that like helping students. The school sets students up for success in a very challenging field of study.

What do you want to do after graduation?

My long-term goal is to be a project manager in the construction industry. I would like to work in commercial markets where I can manage many aspects of large projects. I want to incorporate leadership and business knowledge to the engineering knowledge I am continuing to expand on.

What do you like most about KU?

The university has become a second home for me. I have a good network of classmates, advisors, and professors that make me very comfortable on campus. I would not have been able to have the same experiences I have so far without the resources available to me.

What advice do you have for incoming freshmen?

I am a big believer that the college experience is what you make it. If you are open minded, involved, and motivated you will be exposed to many amazing opportunities. Have a “say yes” attitude to college life, because you never know where it will take you.
