Events
The School of Engineering, its departments and organizations lead
many events each year to benefit the students. The events run the
gamut from strictly fun to more formal occasions.
A few of the regularly held events include:
Engineering Recognition Ceremony: At the end of the
fall semester and the end of the spring semester, the school hosts a
recognition ceremony and reception for new graduates. Information
about the event and invitations are sent to graduating seniors and
their parents or guardians.
Engineering Expo: Coordinated by Engineering
Student Council and held at the end of Engineers Week, Expo lets
students show off some of their amazing projects in a public
setting. Expo usually attracts more than 1,000 visitors —
primarily K-12 students, teachers and parents — to the KU
campus and is a perfect opportunity to develop communication skills
and share an enthusiasm for engineering and computer science. Learn
more about Expo at the Engineering Student Council Web
site.
Career Fairs: Engineering Career Center hosts two
career fairs each year, one fall and one in early spring. The career
fairs bring top employers to campus so students can learn more about
job opportunities and make initial contacts with employers. Students
at all academic levels are strongly encouraged to take part in these
events. Business dress is strongly recommended. Learn more about the
Engineering and Computer Science Career Fairs at http://www.engr.ku.edu/career_center/
SWE Evening with Industry: Students who want
exclusive access to industry representatives will want a ticket to
Evening with Industry. Held the night before the fall Engineering
and Computer Science Career Fair, this banquet and presentation
pairs students with prospective employers of mutual interest.
Evening with Industry also provides an a social time for students to
mingle and develop ties with employers. Learn more about Evening with Industry.
Information about additional School of Engineering events is
included in the weekly School of Engineering News email sent to all
students, faculty and staff.
The university also coordinates events and activities to benefit all
students. Learn more about these events on the KU Events Calendar.
