Flapjacks for Philanthropy to Benefit GaDuGi SafeCenter

All-you-can-eat pancakes, sausage links and orange drink can be a great way to start a weekend, especially when such a feast is for a good cause.

Flapjacks for Philanthropy

Flapjacks for Philanthropy, hosted by sophomore students in the Self Engineering Leadership Fellows Program at the University of Kansas School of Engineering, will be 8 a.m.-11 a.m. Saturday, March 31, in the Eaton Hall Atrium. This year’s beneficiary of the annual event is GaDuGi SafeCenter, a nonprofit organization that provides support and advocacy for sexual assault victims in the Lawrence area.

Tickets are $5 dollars in advance and $7 the day of the event. They can be purchased from any SELF student or in the Engineering Dean’s office, 1 Eaton Hall.  The pancakes are served up in style by Chris Cakes.

“SELF Fellows have always been big into giving back. It’s a key part of the program, and we’re pleased to be able to provide this kind of opportunity to a worthwhile organization,” said Ricky Bellinger, a sophomore mechanical engineering and leader of the flapjacks event.

This is the fifth Flapjacks for Philanthropy event. Previous beneficiaries include Habitat for Humanity and Just Food. More than $10,000 has been raised for charity through the fundraising effort.
