Seating plan for the 2012 Engineering Recognition Ceremony
UPDATED May 1, 2012

The University of Kansas School of Engineering Recognition Ceremony will be from 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m., Saturday, May 12, at Allen Fieldhouse, 1651 Naismith Dr.  The event honors students who have applied to graduate during the spring semester.

A reception for graduates, their family and friends, faculty and staff will take place in an open-air tent between Hoglund Ballpark and Oliver Hall immediately after the ceremony.

Graduates should check in (already dressed in cap and gown) at the fieldhouse by 7:30 a.m. Guests may begin arriving by 7:20 a.m. The event starts promptly at 8 a.m. Tickets for guests are not required.

To ensure as many families as possible are accommodated, students who anticipate more than 10 guests should contact the dean’s office in advance for approval and additional information.

Special seating has been reserved for guests with limited mobility; please notify the School of Engineering of guests with special needs at kuengr@ku.edu

For guests affected by heat or prolonged standing during the reception, seating in an air-conditioned venue will be available in Oliver Hall. In the event of inclement weather the reception will be canceled.

Ample parking is available near Allen Fieldhouse.  A complete KU parking map is available here.  Lot 90 and lot 112 are recommended and each is a short walk from the fieldhouse and Oliver Hall.  Handicap parking spaces are available in lot 70 immediately south of Allen Fieldhouse.  Those attending the ceremony are advised to avoid using the parking garage north of Allen Fieldhouse.

KU Parking and Transit has announced that the Allen Fieldhouse Garage will be open and free for all guests on May 12 and May 13.

However, because a different ceremony is scheduled in the fieldhouse at 10:30 a.m., significant delays are expected at the exits at the conclusion of the engineering ceremony.
