The Quasi Static Knee Simulator
The Muscle Loading Rig
The Kansas Knee Simulator is a servo-hydraulic dynamic testing rig which can apply realistic loads to a knee. The simulator has 5 axis of control, including a hydraulic actuator which acts like a quadriceps muscle. By applying loads at the hip, ankle, and quadriceps tendon, the simulator can perform dynamic walking, stair climbing, or cutting maneuver profiles. Click here to read more   The Quasi-Static Knee Simulator can creates multi-axis quasi-static loads at the knee joint using dead weights. The rig can apply AP and ML forces, and IE, AA, and FE moments at the tibia. Meanwhile, a quadriceps muscle force and knee compressive force are applied at the hip. The rig can be manipulated to perform clinical knee laxity assesments like the Pivot-Shift test. Click here to read more.

The Muscle Loading Rig has the ability to load different heads of the quadriceps and hamstrings separately, which allows for simulating multiple loading condition on the knee. This Rig will play a role in determining the effect of each head of the quadriceps and the hamstrings on both patellofemoral and tibiofemoral kinematics.
