KU School of Engineering Ambassador Scholarship Program Application 2017-2018

The Engineering Ambassadors serve as the student public relations team for the School of Engineering. They assist the Dean's Office in undergraduate recruitment efforts in a variety of ways. A $1,000 scholarship ($500 per semester) is awarded for full-time undergraduate students enrolled in engineering or computer science during the 2017-2018 academic year. All class levels are welcome to apply, but preference will be given to those at the sophomore, junior, and senior levels.

Preferred Applicant Criteria

  • Full-time engineering or computer science student (12 credit hours per semester or more)
  • Preference will be given to those students in good academic standing with a 3.0 or higher GPA
  • Must progress toward an engineering degree & follow the departmental curriculum guidelines
  • Be available to serve one office hour each week
  • Have a passion for KU and the School of Engineering
  • Great public-speaking skills, personable, and approachable

The deadline to apply to the Engineering Ambassador Scholarship Program is Monday, April 3. Please complete the online application and submit your reference by 5:00 pm on April 3. Late applications will not be accepted.

A big part of the Engineering Ambassador program involves interacting with prospective high school and transfer students in different settings: through phone calls, tours of the engineering complex, student panel discussions, etc. Think about your own experiences that you have or have had that will facilitate your participation in these types of situations.
