Tau Beta Pi Seeks Donations for Competitive Food Drive

The Tau Beta Pi Bent in front of Eaton Hall at the KU School of Engineering.

The University of Kansas chapter of Tau Beta Pi, the all engineering honor society, is organizing a canned food drive until Wednesday, Nov. 7. The collection will benefit the Ballard Community Center, which helps the homeless, the working poor, the elderly, families, and children in Lawrence and the surrounding area. Collection boxes have been placed in departmental offices and in the Spahr Library for donation.

The food drive also is a competition between KU’s Kansas Alpha chapter of Tau Beta Pi and other district chapters, which include Kansas State, Nebraska, Missouri, Wichita State, and Oklahoma universities, as well as others. Another Tau Beta Pi chapter in the state has won the trophy numerous years in a row, and KU’s Kansas Alpha chapter would like to bring the trophy back to KU. More importantly, chapter members would appreciate all student, faculty and staff support in helping the less fortunate.

Canned goods and nonperishables as well as monetary donations are being accepted; please refer to posted informational fliers around Learned Hall for more information.
