KU to host conference on cybersecurity for the ‘Internet of Things’

LAWRENCE — Security experts from across the Midwest region will gather on the KU Edwards Campus on Oct. 2 for a daylong conference on “Securing the Internet of Things.”

Today, the SELF 2020 cohort visited Kenworth Trucking in Seattle, WA. Kenworth Trucking is owned by Paccar which owns an ecosystem of truck manufacturers, truck part manufacturers, and truck financing groups.

Today we visited the Ballard Locks with Dave Chapman.  The Ballard Locks is one of Seattle’s most popular tourist attractions. The Locks were completed in 1917 and connect the salt water Puget Sound with fresh water Lake Union and Lake Washington.

            This day was packed full of company visits with two morning visits at Blue Origin and Fred Hutch Cancer Research Center, and an afternoon visit at the Uber Seattle office.

For the juniors’ second day in Seattle, they had the entire day to explore all that Seattle has to offer. It was beautiful outside (not even raining a little bit!).

The day for many started at 3 AM, with some entering the terminal with apprehension due to the unfortunate airline incident that occurred the previous day in Seattle. Some were hesitant to get on the plane and nervous for part of the ride. Quinton Jones was not one of these people.
