Description
There’s nothing more fun than building a racecar! We are challenging students to build a small scale powered car to compete in our competition. Students will develop their small race cars at home and bring them in to be judged on their design, cost and speed!

When you arrive at EXPO bring your car to the Jayhawk Motorsports shop to be tested in competition!
Rules for the competition
The goal of this competition is to analyze the design, cost and performance of the cars that students develop so get creative! Students can build their cars either by themselves or in groups of up to 3 and there will not be any material provided at the competition.
- Small groups can only be up to 3 students
- Each car must have some form of independent powered propulsion (small motor, small fan, wind-up mechanism,etc.)
- Car must be able to travel a distance of 10ft
- Must complete 10ft run in under 2 minutes
- Students need to have small walk through prepared
- Car must be 3 wheels or more
- Car must be minimum dimensions of 6in long by 6in wide
- Explain the reason behind the design they chose (shape of the car, power unit, how the car works etc)
- Explain how they worked within a budget and how that influenced their design
- Video Submissions will be accepted
Material Restrictions:
- No sharp edges on the car
- No Hazardous Materials
