KU Alumnus Establishes Study Abroad Scholarship

A University of Kansas alumnus has pledged $30,000 to establish study abroad scholarships for engineering students at KU.

Donald Faught of Naples, Fla., and Red Feathers Lakes, Colo., pledged the funds to KU Endowment for the Donald Faught Study Abroad Scholarship.

Faught graduated from KU in 1973 with a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering. He retired from DuPont in 2005 as vice president responsible for several global business units. He spent his entire career with DuPont in a variety of technical, manufacturing, marketing and business management positions. Faught worked for 10 years in Geneva, Switzerland.

That international experience is "why I have real value for supporting the study abroad program," Faught said.

Faught is on KU's International Programs and School of Engineering advisory boards.

KU Endowment is an independent, nonprofit organization serving as the official fundraising and fund-management foundation for KU. Founded in 1891, KU Endowment is the oldest foundation of its kind at a public university in the United States.
