**Construction projects in Lawrence are expected to cause traffic delays for some graduates and guests. Here's an overview:

• Westbound 23rd Street is reduced to one lane from near Massachusetts street to Alabama street for waterline construction.

• Haskell avenue is closed to through traffic between 23rd and 31st streets.

Motorists should allow extra time or consider an an alternate route to campus. A complete overview of road work under way in Lawrence is availabe through the city's website.

The University of Kansas School of Engineering Recognition Ceremony will be from 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m., Saturday, May 17, at Allen Fieldhouse, 1651 Naismith Dr.  The event honors students who have applied to graduate during the spring and summer semesters. A reception for graduates, their family and friends, faculty and staff will take place in an open-air tent between Hoglund Ballpark and Oliver Hall immediately after the ceremony.

The ceremony will be carried on a live webcast for those unable to attend.  The link will be posted here and shared on the School of Engineering's social media sites (Facebook, Twitter) by Friday, May 16. The video feed will not be live until Saturday morning shortly before the ceremony begings.

It’s a great day made even more joyous when we all know what to expect.

Graduates and faculty should check in by 7:30 a.m. (already dressed in cap and gown) on the west side of the second floor of Allen Fieldhouse. Guests may begin arriving at the Fieldhouse by 7:20 a.m., and will find it most helpful to enter through the Booth Family Hall of Athletics entry on the east side of the Fieldhouse.

The event starts promptly at 8 a.m. Tickets for guests are not required. For guests with limited mobility; however, to ensure all guests with mobility concerns are accommodated, we ask that parties limit their use of reserved seating to those who need it and one additional companion. Guests who can comfortably use stairs are encouraged to seat themselves higher. Those who have not already done so should please notify the School of Engineering of guests with special needs at

kuengr@ku.edu.

The School of Education ceremony begins shortly after the conclusion of the School of Engineering ceremony. To better accommodate all KU graduates, guests are asked to meet their graduate at the reception area. In the event of inclement weather the reception will be canceled.

Ample parking is available near Allen Fieldhouse.

Lot 90, Lot 112, and Lot 127 are recommended and each is a short walk from the Fieldhouse and Oliver Hall. Handicap parking spaces are available in Lot 70 and Lot 71 immediately south of Allen Fieldhouse. Additionally, Allen Fieldhouse Drive will be open to allow drop-off of friends and family with limited mobility. Those attending the ceremony are advised to avoid using the parking garage north of Allen Fieldhouse. KU Parking and Transit has announced that the Allen Fieldhouse Garage will be open and free for all guests on May 17 and May 18. However, because a different ceremony is scheduled in the Fieldhouse at 10:30 a.m., significant delays are expected at the exits at the conclusion of the engineering ceremony.
