Engineering Student Council
The purpose of the University of Kansas’ Engineering Student Council (ESC) is to facilitate communication between the faculty and staff of the School of Engineering and its students, promoting engineering education, involvement within the school, and serving as a collective voice for the engineering student community. ESC accomplishes this by:
- Holding monthly meetings with engineering student organization representatives to discuss school-wide events, introduce opportunities for collaboration, and develop leadership skills with industry professionals and university departments
- Organizing numerous social, professional, and community service events for students of the School of Engineering throughout the year such as Engineers Rock the Block and Food Truck Fridays
- Meeting with engineering administration as needed to discuss and resolve issues pertaining to the engineering student body
- Managing the Funding Advisory Committee to allocate School of Engineering funding to student groups for projects, competitions, conferences, and professional events
- Hosting over 1,500 elementary and middle school students to the School of Engineering for Engineering EXPO: a free STEM outreach event that introduces students to engineering through events, activities, and competitions hosted by engineering student organizations

The purpose of the First-Year Engineering Student Council, known as FESC, is to provide a supportive and introductory environment where first-year students within the School of Engineering can possess leadership roles and get involved within their school under the guidance of the Vice Presidents of Recruitment.
Members will meet weekly to plan events for the engineering student body, network with other students, and participate in a mentorship program with ESC officers.
Want to get involved? FESC members are recruited during the first month of the school year. Keep an eye out for the application in the engineering newsletter and at Engineers Rock the Block. For more information, reach out to one of our VPs of Recruitment!
