What is the focus of your research as part of the Undergraduate Research Fellows Program?
Benjamin Smit is conducting research on subsonic ballistic trajectory error analysis using prediction software employed by the Jayhawk High-Powered Rocketry Club. This software is utilized in personal high-power rocketry flight projects, as well as in national and upcoming international competitions in which the club participates. The research is being mentored by Dr. Ronald Barrett within the KU Adaptive Aerostructures Laboratory and the KU Space Vehicles Research Lab.
What is your favorite part of the Undergraduate Research Fellows program?
My favorite part of the Undergraduate Research Fellow program is being surrounded by like-minded individuals who have a common goal in research and are trying to improve this talent within themselves.
What are your future academic and professional plans?
I am currently leaning towards graduate studies, but if there is an offer from the industry during my senior year, that is enticing. I might have to reconsider my options with immediate graduate studies.
