Dean Anderson McGee

Former Chairman and Chief Executive of Kerr-McGee Corp.

McGee was honored for leading his company, Kerr-McGee, in development of the technology for offshore petroleum exploration and production and in the research and application of equipment and processes for uranium mining.  Kerr-McGee was the first company to use a submersible drilling unit in unprotected waters, the first to provide living quarters for offshore crews and the first to mine uranium. It developed the solvent extraction method of retrieving uranium ore.
