John S. McNown

Professor Emeritus and Former Dean of the KU School of Engineering

John S. McNown, Ph.D., was honored for his technical contributions in fluid mechanics and his leadership in engineering education. He was dean of the KU School of Engineering and Architecture and director of the KU Center for Research. He worked in more than 15 developing countries and conducted basic studies of the principles and applications of fluid flow at junctions and massive movements of water in harbors. He was elected to the National Academy of Engineering.
